PICK A COIN - ASHTRAY - TRICK OLIVE IN BRANDY SNIFTER - TWO QUARTERS - SMOKE ON THE WATER - TOOTHPICK STAR

Pick a Coin

Your going to need 9 coins, they don't all have to be the same and in fact it helps if you use what ever coins you may have in your pocket.  By using several different types of coins I've found that my victim tries to find a pattern in the coins that I use. You will also need an accomplice with a drink and a bar napkin.

To start the trick claim that you can sense the residual psychic energy left on a touched coin, or if that's to hokey for you just say you can guess which coin your victim touched last.  One guy I knew had a huge nose, and used it to his advantage with this trick. He claimed that he could smell which coin the victim touched. It was hilarious to see him sniff at a group of coins, grimace as if he's smelled something really offensive, and then point out the victim's coin. The point is, be creative. There are many possibility's and you should try to add a personal touch.

First set up the coins as follows:

  • three coins in a horizontal row followed by

  • three more coins in a parallel row below the first set of coins

  • and then another row of three coins below those.
Have your partner sitting where you can glance at him without looking suspicious. Tell your victim to choose a coin and touch it while your back is turned. While your victim is choosing his/her coin, your partner is sipping or holding his drink and carefully watching your victim.  When your victim chooses his/her coin, your partner puts his drink down on a corresponding point on the napkin.  For example, if your victim touches the coin on the top right corner, your accomplice puts his beer on the top right corner of his napkin.  Notice where Marks beer is located on his napkin and how it corresponds to the Coin Sharon is touching.
You will then turn around and glance at his drink, once he knows you've seen it he picks up his drink again.  From here on out it's all theatrics.  You already know which coin was touched but pretend you have to "feel" for the vibe, or smell the coins, whatever the heck you want but it may be fun to draw it out a little although sometimes I guess as soon as I turn around. The impact is great.  Your victim will be amazed and they'll be trying to figure out how you managed to fool their "superior" mind.  The first thing every body looks for is mirrors behind you, then they claim that they must have moved the coin when they touched it and ask for another try.  Go ahead you could do this all day. Trust me.

Tips:

  • Tell your accomplice to pretend to be as amazed as everyone else.  If your victim notices that he's not amazed, they'll catch on.
  • Make sure your accomplice isn't obvious about what he's doing.  Tell him to put his drink down a few times while your back is turned, even if the person hasn't chosen the coin yet.  Just make sure that his beer is in the right spot when you look at him.
  • As soon as your accomplice see's that you've looked at his beer, have him pick it back up and take a sip then put it down on a different spot.

The Worlds Easiest Bar Trick

Works best with drunks! First, find a drunk. Not very hard to do in a bar. Second, without them seeing you, dip your index finger in an ashtray so that some ash remains on the tip. Light a cigarette and ask the drunk to face you. Tell him to extend both hands. Usually they will do it palms up but either way grab both of their hands as if positioning them. This is when you wipe your index finger on their palm. A light touch is enough to make the ash stick. Next, tell them to watch you very closely . Make a loose fist and with your cigarette and tap an ash into it. Tell the drunk to do everything you do. Hit your fists together...tap his fist with yours, tap one of your fists on top of the other...anything crazy. It is all for show and only serves to distract him. Hold your closed fists out and ask him which hand the ash is in. When he points to your hand, say nothing but point at his. He'll be floored that the ash magically moved to his hand! While he is looking at his hands and scratching his head, sneak out the back door with his date!

Olive in Brandy Snifter

Practice this bar trick before placing any bets. The olive has a tendency to come out of snifter when flipping upright. After a little practice, you will be a pro

Ingredients: 1 olive, and 1 brandy snifter....Don't forget you can buy your brandy snifter's here.

Objective: Put olive in brandy snifter

Situation: You can not touch the olive with your body (hands, mouth, etc.). You can not scoop the olive with the snifter. You can not role olive off of bar into snifter.

With the olive on the bar. Place the brandy snifter over the olive so that the open end of the snifter is surrounding the olive. Slowly rotate the brandy snifter around the olive. The olive will role around the inside walls of the snifter (centrifugal force). Once the olive is spinning around the middle of the snifter. Flip the snifter upright and place on the bar. Collect your winnings!

Two Quarters and a Pint Glass

Take any bar glass (works best with a pint glass) and place two quarters on the rim of the glass opposite each other. Ask your guest to remove both quarters from the glass without moving the glass and only using one hand.

Carefully slide one of the quarters around the glass rim until it is balancing right next to the other quarter.
Use your thumb and first finger to grasp the outside edges of the quarter and Viola!

Smoke on the Water

the challenge is to transfer the water from the saucer into the rocks glass without touching the saucer

You'll need:

A saucer with a little water in it or use cranberry juice to make it a little easier to see

    A lemon or lime wedge

    A rocks glass

    four matches

This is done by putting the four matches into the lemon wedge; placing it peel down into the saucer; lighting the matches at once; while they're still burning place the rocks glass over the burning lemon, flat into the saucer, where the lack of air will cause a vacuum that lifts the water into the rocks glass. If you do this quickly, and correctly, you can flip the rocks glass open side up but with all of the water from the saucer.

(I do it without flipping the saucer over. I find it's impressive enough watching the water being sucked into the glass. I've done it both ways and people seem to be impressed enough after the water is sucked into the glass and don't care about flipping it over.)

(Some people do this trick with a stack of quarters instead of a lime wedge.  Anything you can use to hold the match will work)

Toothpick Star

Take 5 toothpicks and snap them in half without actually breaking them apart (meaning leave a joint in the middle of each match)

Arrange them like this.

Tell your audience to turn the toothpicks into a star without physically touching them.

When they can't figure it out dip a straw into the nearest drink and cover the end of it (the way most bartenders taste the drinks they make) and put a drop of liquid on the joint of each toothpick. Watch it slowly close into a star.
