Definition:
A cocktail shaker is a container (stainless steel or plastic) that is used by bartenders to shake or stir cocktails. A common shaker style is the 3-Piece Cocktail Shaker which consists of a lid and cap, the lid doubles as a strainer also.
Cocktail shakers are manufactured, weighted and non-weighted. Flair bartenders prefer the added weight on the bottom of the cup for more stability during flips and stalls.

Also known as a short shaker or cheater tin, a 16 oz. shaker is traditionally used to cap a 28 oz. shaker.
18 oz. Weighted Cocktail Shaker
The 18 oz. Cocktail shaker is used to cap a 28 oz. shaker much like the 16oz. The main difference is that the 18oz shaker sits higher inside the 28oz to allow for more liquid content inside the shaker. The 18oz shaker is still small enough to be used as a cheater tin.
28 oz. Weighted Cocktail Shaker
Also known as a tin, cocktail shaker or Boston shaker, a 28 oz. shaker is traditionally used to cap a mixing glass, beverage glass or work in conjunction with a 16 oz. shaker or our Mako™ shaker to shake or mix cocktails.
